Directness with ease, light humor, and compassion is my approach to counseling. I take much time getting to know you and breaking down the stereotypes that exist about seeking help. Many of my clients often gladly remark on how counseling with me is informal and comfortable. I believe that is because I meet you where you are while providing you with new insights and different ways to understand your problems. I understand how our experiences, families, and cultures shape much of our behaviors and emotions, and always consider group diversity and individuality as a result. I also like to infuse pop culture references as well as quotes into my sessions. My specialized interests in therapy are cultural identity development, work-place stress or conflict, adjustment, family dynamics, racism and sense of self. My favorite quote: "If I didn't define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people's fantasies for me and eaten alive." ~Audre Lorde

My goal as a clinician is to ensure a safe, affirming, and judgment free space where you can feel comfortable sharing and processing the hard things that life throws your way. I aim to achieve this by meeting you where you are. It’s important for you to feel safe when sharing some of the most personal parts of yourself and your life. Therapy is an opportunity to be able to share and process your thoughts, emotions, and actions while learning more about yourself, your relationships, and coping skills. It’s not always an easy step to take and not always a comfortable process, but the first step is simply showing up.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C) who is bilingual in English and Spanish. I utilize an eclectic therapy approach with my clients. I draw from various psychotherapy modalities in order to tailor to what would benefit my clients the most. I have worked with a multitude of populations and also have specialized experience and training working with the LGBTQIA community. I strive to provide culturally affirming services and am aware of how various communities and populations are uniquely impacted by bias and discrimination, while also acknowledging intersectionality and the role this plays in issues someone may go through. I help clients manage stress and anxiety, adjustment issues, family conflicts, lack of motivation, self-esteem and confidence issues, depression and much more.
